Status assessment and roadmap

An AI strategy that fits your business, data and systems.

You get a sequence: which processes first, which architecture, which operating model, which products – and what is deliberately not done.

In short: An AI strategy answers four questions. Where does AI pay off for us (processes)? What do we need for it (data, systems, roles)? How do we run it (architecture, operating model)? In what order (roadmap)?

Contents

What the strategy contains.

Status assessment

Processes, data, systems, skills, risks – where does the company stand?

Process portfolio

Candidates assessed and prioritised by benefit, data situation, risk and effort.

Solution types

For each process: standard product, customised product or custom development.

Architecture

Platform, operating model (local, private cloud, hybrid), model strategy, shared data core.

Organisation

Roles, approvals, responsibility, building expertise.

Roadmap

Sequence, pilots, decision points – and what is deliberately not done.

Assessment criteria

How we prioritise processes.

CriterionQuestionWeight
BenefitHow much time and waiting can be eliminated, and how many errors prevented?high
Data situationIs the data available, accessible and clean?high
RiskWhat happens when errors occur? Are there approval points?high
IntegrationHow many systems are involved, and are there interfaces?medium
MaturityIs there a product or building block that fits?medium
AcceptanceDo the people who carry out the process support it?medium
How it works

Four steps to the strategy.

Gather

Interviews with management, process owners and IT; review of data and systems.

Assess

Process candidates against the criteria, architecture options, operating models.

Decide

Prioritisation, solution types, roadmap – together with management.

Document

A document that records decisions, reasons and next steps.

Follow-on

The strategy names the first pilots and their prerequisites.

Because consulting and engineering come from one team, the strategy does not stop at the door. The pilots run on the Swiss AI Platform, the products are our own, and we know the operating model from running it ourselves.

And if the strategy concludes that a process should not be prioritised, that is stated just as clearly.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about AI strategy

How long does a strategy take?

That depends on the size and number of processes. We state the timeframe in our quote.

Do we need an AI potential assessment first?

Not necessarily. The AI potential assessment examines one process; the strategy organises several. Often it starts with an AI potential assessment and grows into a strategy.

Is the strategy vendor-neutral?

We weigh standard software, our products and custom development against each other and justify the recommendation. We are open about the fact that we have our own products.
